JCI Davao-UM Collaborative ECOTONE Project Named Finalist at 2026 JCI ASPAC Awards in Niigata, Japan



The JCI Davao- UM collaborative ECOTONE Project has been recognized as a Finalist at the 2026 JCI ASPAC Awards held in Niigata, Japan, marking a significant milestone for the organization in advancing science-driven environmental initiatives on the international stage.

Originally developed through a strong collaboration between the University of Mindanao, the Center of Green Nanotechnology Innovations for Environmental Solutions (CGNIES), the Institute of Biodiversity and Environment (IBE), and JCI Davao, the ECOTONE Project has evolved into a globally recognized initiative that integrates science, innovation, environmental stewardship, and civic leadership. Its recognition at the ASPAC level highlights the growing impact of interdisciplinary partnerships in addressing pressing environmental challenges.

The achievement reflects the collective efforts of academic partners, researchers, scientists, industry experts, community leaders, and JCI Davao members who have contributed to the project’s development and implementation. Their shared commitment underscores the value of collaboration in generating sustainable and community-centered solutions for environmental protection and innovation.

Special recognition is also extended to Project Chairman Dr. Marlon Suelto, whose leadership and dedication were instrumental in guiding the initiative from its conceptual stage to international recognition.
