UM Davao Tourism Students Shine at UFTE 17th National Tourism and Hospitality Congress & Skills Olympics 2025
Competing against 50 of the country's top universities, the University of Mindanao came out as among the top performers in the UFTE 17th Annual National Tourism and Hospitality Congress & Skills Olympics, held at the Treston International College in BGC, Taguig City last Oct. 3-4, 2025.
The UM Davao delegation, composed of Bachelor of Science in Tourism students, won as Champion in the Tour Package Domestic Proposal, Champion in Travel Photography (John Matthew Tampon), Champion in Kasuotang Pinoy (Male) (Carlos Miguel Te Un),
Overall 2nd Runner-Up in the National Skills Olympics, 2nd Runner-Up in Tour Guiding ASEAN (Juliana Marie Laguitao), 2nd Runner-Up in Kasuotang Pinoy (Female) (Vera Glich Gonzales), and 3rd Runner-Up in Tour Package International Proposal (Sophia Amor Sabado & Apple Andrino).
Other finalists included Christian Marl Tatad and Rocell Iyana for Inflight Safety Demonstration; Nycel Zec Alicando for Quiz Bee; Ruffel Mae Fernandez for Tour Guiding Domestic; JM Eupeña and Jhasmine Salado for Travel Vlog; and Mairen Ros Tura for Poster Making and Slogan.
The success of UM Davao’s delegation was guided by Co-Faculty Coaches Dr. Liwliwa B. Lagman, Sir Earon Porillano, and Ma’am Aivee Alfeche, whose mentorship was instrumental in preparing the students for national competition. This remarkable achievement reflects faith, teamwork, and excellence beyond limits, proving that with one team, one heart, and one dream, UM Davao continues to shine on the national stage.
