UM BSTM Student Delegation Brings Honor to the Philippines at AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2025



On November 7, 2025, the University of Mindanao (UM) once again raised the Philippine flag on the international stage as its Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) student delegation earned top honors at the AFECA Asia MICE Youth Challenge 2025, held in Jakarta, Indonesia.


The UM delegation received the Most Knowledgeable Award, a significant recognition that reflects the team’s strong academic foundation, effective collaboration, and commitment to excellence. Representing the College of Hospitality Education (CHE) were Christian Marl Tatad, Ryan Willer Dayot, Angelica Kate Garcia, and Rocell Mae Iyana, whose performance showcased the University of Mindanao’s core values of Galing (excellence and competence) and Gawa (action and results) on a global platform.

Further highlighting the delegation’s success, Christian Marl Tatad was recognized as the Most Knowledgeable Presenter, underscoring his expertise, clarity of thought, and leadership throughout the competition.


The achievement was made possible through the dedicated guidance of their coach, Dr. Clarence Joy Alcaraz, whose mentorship and unwavering support were instrumental in preparing the students for the international challenge.


The University of Mindanao–College of Hospitality Education proudly celebrates this milestone, recognizing the students’ discipline, professionalism, and passion. Their accomplishment not only brings honor to the institution but also strengthens the Philippines’ presence and credibility in the global Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.
