Strength in Synergy: CEC and RIC Unite to Empower SOCI Focal Persons in Evaluation and Impact Research

In a joint effort to strengthen research capabilities within the University, the Human Resource and Development Center (HRDC), Community Extension Center (CEC) and the Research and Innovation Center (RIC) collaborated in a capacity-building session for SOCI focal persons focused on evaluation and impact research. The activity underscored the University’s commitment to evidence-based community engagement and continuous improvement of its extension initiatives.

Dr. Joel B. Tan, Assistant Vice President for Business and Social Science Studies, served as the resource speaker. He emphasized the importance of conducting evaluation and impact studies as tools to measure the effectiveness and sustainability of community programs. Dr. Tan also shared practical approaches and methodologies that focal persons can apply in assessing outcomes and documenting the long-term impact of their respective projects.

CEC Assistant Vice President Sitti Apadan highlighted that the collaboration between CEC and RIC reflects the institution’s united vision to build research-driven extension programs. She added that empowering SOCI focal persons with the right research tools ensures that community initiatives are not only implemented but are also measured, analyzed, and improved based on evidence and results.

The session concluded with a call to sustain such collaborative efforts to further enhance the University’s social impact through data-informed community work.
