Duyog PanagtigUM: Bayda Adi 2025 Welcomes UM’s Freshies and Transferee Students
Lively cheers, bustling booths, and first-day jitters filled the UM Matina Campus on August 8, 2025, as the University of Mindanao officially welcomed its newest Jaguars through Bayda Adi 2025: Duyog PanagtigUM.
More than just an orientation, Bayda Adi has quickly become a hallmark of UM life since it was first held in 2023. Designed to help freshmen and transferee students navigate their new home, the event featured campus navigation, organizational booths, and activities that allowed students to connect with peers and discover opportunities waiting for them at UM.
For Council of College Student Government (CCSG) President Mark Joseph Junio, the success of the event reflects the spirit of teamwork at UM.
“I always believe in the power of coordination, so we work closely with the council student organization, the Council of College Student Government, and of course, with the Office of Student Affairs to implement Bayda Adi effectively. This is a great event where we welcome the first years and transferees into the University of Mindanao,” he shared.
This year, UM proudly welcomes 32, 440 students for Academic Year 2025–2026 as of September 18, 2025. Of these, 8, 230 are freshmen and 426 are transferees—a growing community of learners ready to begin their journeys.
As Bayda Adi 2025 wrapped up, the message was clear: UM is more than just a university. It is a community where students find guidance, belonging, and a place to thrive.
