UM WELCOMES INBOUND STUDENTS FROM VIETNAM AND INDONESIA UNDER SEA-TEACHER PROGRAM

Six students from Vietnam and Indonesia, who are all in the Philippines for a one-month immersion program, met with the senior leaders of the university during a courtesy call yesterday afternoon at the UM Matina campus.
Three students from Dong Thap University, Vietnam are hosted by UM Tagum College’s Education department, while three from Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, Inonesia are hosted by the College of Teacher Education Main campus. This immersion program is made possible by the SEA-Teacher program, a network of cultural exchange for future educators, which UM Main and UM Tagum College are members of.
The SEA Teacher Project, also known as the "Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is dedicated to fostering invaluable teaching experiences for pre-service student teachers from various universities in Southeast Asia. Its mission is to provide aspiring educators with the unique opportunity to engage in practicums at schools in different countries within the region (seameo.org).
The students, who are all Education majors, are scheduled to have their immersion training in local public high schools in Tagum and Davao cities. In the same way, our students in UM are also sent to partner universities in Southeast Asia under this program to be exposed to local high schools in their host country.
The inbound students are staying in the Philippines until the end of the month.
