UM mid-year commencement exercises set on Dec. 5 at SMX Convention Center
The University of Mindanao’s annual mid-year graduation rites will see 1, 285 graduates across the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs; as well as the technical school, receive their hard earned credentials on December 5 at the SMX Convention Center in SM Lanang.
Exemplary graduates will also be handed their awards at the baccalaureate ceremonies on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018 at the Embassy campus gymnasium in Bolton, with Bachelor of Science in Accountancy graduate Joanna Mae R. as Villanueva as this commencement’s summa cum laude, as well the Most Outstanding Graduate of the Year and recipient of the G.E. Torres Excellence Award.
The university will also recognize the performance of topnotchers in various licensure examinations, as well as graduates who garnered awards and citations from participating in extracurricular activities outside the school.
The mid-year graduation rites will also see COA Commissioner Atty. Roland C. Pondoc receive his Institutional Award, the most prestigious award handed by the university to its alumni, for his exemplary track record in performance of his duties.
Atty. Pondoc graduated from the university in 1988 with a degree in Commerce- Accounting, and obtained his MBA in 1997, and graduated from the UM College of Law in 2001. He served the university in various capacities before going into government service.
A Certified Public Accountant and lawyer, he was appointed as commissioner for the Commission on Audit by President Rodrigo Duterte last March.
According to the COA website, Atty. Pondoc is also a recipient of the prestigious Outstanding CPA in Government Award from the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), awarded last Nov. 22 in grand rites at the SMX Convention Center, Bacolod City. It was among the highlights of the 73rd PICPA Annual National Convention.
