Innovative Programs and Projects
Nanofertilizer
A novel approach to valorize biogas digestate through its conversion into encapsulated nanofertilizers using polyurethane coatings.
SMART Concrete
Self-healing encapsulation for concrete repair is a technology that has been in considerable attention recently. Encapsulation permits an active substance to be immobilized, protected, released, and functionalized. Herein, nanocellulose from durian (Durio zibethinus) rinds were prepared to encapsulate silica, the primary self-healing agent.
Simultaneous Selective Recovery of Lithium and Cobalt from Spent Lithium-Ion Batteries Using Modified Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis
This project addresses challenges in e-waste management, sustainable resource recovery, and circular economy models, positioning it at the center of SDG priorities—particularly SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
A Test Kit for Detecting Hg and Pb in Mining Wastewater
This innovation is a specialized test kit designed for the rapid, on-site detection of heavy metals—specifically mercury (Hg) and lead (Pb)—in mining wastewater. Developed to address environmental contamination from mining operations, the kit provides a practical alternative to costly and time-consuming laboratory analysis. It enables mining companies, environmental regulators, and community monitors to quickly assess water quality, ensure compliance with discharge standards, and take immediate corrective action to prevent heavy metal pollution in freshwater systems.
Cacao Bean Analyzer System
The Cacao Bean Analyzer System is a utility model innovation that provides an efficient, non-destructive method for evaluating the quality of cacao beans. Aimed at supporting the Philippine cacao industry, this system helps farmers, traders, and processors determine key parameters such as bean moisture content, fat content, and fermentation level. By enabling rapid quality grading at the point of harvest or trade, the analyzer ensures fair pricing, reduces post-harvest losses, and enhances the overall competitiveness of locally produced cacao.
A Portable Fire Exterminator Using Shock Waves
This patented device introduces a novel approach to fire suppression by using controlled shock waves instead of traditional extinguishing agents like water, foam, or dry chemicals. The portable fire exterminator generates a directed pressure wave that disrupts the combustion process by momentarily displacing oxygen and breaking the flame structure. Ideal for electrical fires, industrial settings, or initial outbreak response, this technology offers a clean, residue-free, and potentially more effective method for rapid fire control, reducing collateral damage and re-ignition risks.
A Flood Monitoring and Alert System
The present utility model provides a system for surveying water in urban areas with wireless transmission of data. More particularly, the present utility model relates to a flood monitoring and alert system having a configurable application for monitoring and notification. A flood monitoring and alert system comprising a flood detection assembly for flood detection and measuring means; a floater disposed inside the floater chamber and being connected to the computing assembly; a cloud for data computing and storage means being in communication with the computing assembly, and a user terminal; a database being interfaced to the cloud and characterized of a configurable application module, when executed through the cloud, generates a flood monitoring map to assist a user in navigating passable roads, and wherein said flood monitoring map being preview through an interface displayed in the user terminal.
