Welcoming New Employees to UM

The University of Mindanao welcomed one hundred four new employees through its New Employee Orientation last August 27, 2026, at AVR3, SS Building, UM Bolton Campus.

This orientation for main and branch campuses is designed to prepare the new employees with the necessary information on the University’s culture and policies. Beyond equipping them with the needed knowledge and skills, the orientation aims for them to feel welcomed and comfortable as they ease into the University.

The program began with a welcome message from Myrna S. Viado, VP for HRMDO. This was followed by Michelle Y. Acledan, EdD, AVP for HR Development, who discussed UM’s Vision, Mission, Core Values, Centennial Road Map, and Employee Development Program.

The program went on to feature key personnel policies; this included employment contracts, job descriptions, and the promotion and ranking presented by Frida Santa O. Dagatan, MM. To help new employees become familiar with the workplace values and expectations, Lynsore M. Pantastico discussed employee attendance and e-Attendance/e-DTR navigation. This was followed by Jeffrey F. Ligutom and Aleza Merdekha D. Sanaran who discussed employee relations, personnel discipline, statutory rights, and fringe benefits.

The orientation continued with more discussions on pay policies, BIR withholding tax, and computation, led by Richard G. Lumapat and Kim Jurry B. Lerazan, CPA. In the afternoon, participants continued with pay policies and UM Alay Damayan, followed by an introduction to the MIS Employee Portal by Rodglenn Chris Rojas.

The program ended with closing remarks and a photo opportunity, with Roceyl Jane J. Batucan serving as facilitator.
