To provide its new employees in the Main and Branches with practical guidance on the school's standards and systems in instruction, assessment, research, extension, and faculty development, the University of Mindanao conducted the Quality Induction Program last Sept. 10, 2026 as part of its onboarding programs.
The whole-day special orientation catered to sixty-six faculty members who underwent orientation on excellence in instruction, quality teaching, and outcome-based education within the UM framework led by Catherine de Loyola, PhD, of Institute of Pedagogical Advancement and Competitiveness (IPAC); orientation on academic and instructional systems including Blackboard Learn was discussed by Melvin Soriano, IT Support Manager for BB Learn; and Learning Resources/Online Databases was introduced by Raphael Angelo Dingal, LIC Librarian.
Participants were also introduced to essential academic and instructional systems. These included: and Evelyn Galope, HR Supervisor – Performance Evaluation, presented the faculty's performance evaluation.
The program opened with a welcome message from Myrna S. Viado, DBA, VP - Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), who provided as well the rationale in making employees aware of UM's Quality Standards.
The afternoon sessions focused on excellence in research and extension, as well as blended online learning approaches in higher education and the Faculty Development Program. Ms. De Loyola continued the presentation on the Assessment Policy on Best Practices. The session then transitioned to Dr. Joel Tan, DBA, AVP for Business and Social Science Studies, who provided an in-depth presentation on research, followed by Sitti Apadan, Head - Community Extension Center, who presented the University's community extension initiatives.
The final presentation was delivered by Michelle Y. Acledan, EdD, AVP - Human Resource Development Center, on Blended Online Learning Approaches in Higher Education and the Faculty Development Program. Together, these sessions strengthened the QIP’s commitment to faculty excellence and academic quality.
