Protecting Pets, Protecting People: UM and CVO Join Forces for Anti-Rabies Vaccination Activity

Healthy communities begin with shared responsibility — and sometimes, that responsibility has four paws.

On June 27, 2026, the University of Mindanao, in partnership with the City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO), conducted an Anti-Rabies Vaccination Activity for employees of the university community. The initiative offered free anti-rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats, making it easier for pet owners to protect their beloved companions while contributing to the safety and well-being of everyone around them.

The vaccination drive was met with an encouraging response as employees brought their pets to receive this essential preventive care. For many, it was more than just fulfilling a requirement — it was an expression of love and responsibility for the animals they consider part of their families.

Beyond protecting pets, the activity also highlighted the importance of preventing rabies, a disease that can be effectively controlled through regular vaccination. It served as a reminder that every vaccinated pet helps create a safer environment for families, workplaces, and the community.

The partnership with the City Veterinarian’s Office reflects the University’s commitment to initiatives that promote health, wellness, and community engagement. By bringing accessible veterinary services closer to employees, the University continues to support programs that extend care beyond the workplace and encourage a culture of compassion and shared responsibility.

The success of the Anti-Rabies Vaccination Activity was made possible through the collaboration between the University of Mindanao and the City Veterinarian’s Office, as well as the active participation of employees who recognized the value of responsible pet ownership.

Through meaningful partnerships and community-centered initiatives like this, the University continues to foster a culture where care goes beyond people — it also embraces the well-being of the animals that bring joy, comfort, and companionship to our lives. After all, protecting our pets is another way of protecting our community.
