The Davao City Justice Zone Regular Meeting
The Davao City Justice Zone successfully convened its regular meeting on February 11, 2026, at Sandigan Hall, Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Davao City. The meeting gathered the pillars of justice, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening coordination and advancing reforms within the local justice system.
A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a research study recognized by the Justice Zone, titled “Thinking Styles of PDLs at Davao City Jail.” The study was presented by Research Coordinator Irish P. Bandolos, MSCJ, and Assistant Research Coordinator Mechelle C. Gempesao, MSCJ, with the support of Sitti L. Apadan, Assistant Vice President of the Community Extension Center of the University of Mindanao.
The research examines the thinking styles of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and underscores the importance of evidence-based correctional interventions. The findings aim to directly support national health goals related to substance abuse prevention and mental health recovery, while contributing to more responsive and rehabilitative justice programs in Davao City.
During the meeting, member agencies provided comprehensive updates on past and ongoing initiatives, highlighting accomplishments, key developments, and challenges encountered in implementing various justice programs. Discussions reflected the strong inter-agency collaboration that defines the Justice Zone framework.
In addition, new initiatives were presented and discussed, focusing on further strengthening justice operations, enhancing crime prevention strategies, and improving support mechanisms for victims. These planned endeavors demonstrate the Justice Zone’s continuing dedication to innovation, coordination, and community-centered justice.
The regular meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all pillars of justice to sustain collaborative efforts and uphold the shared vision of a more efficient, transparent, and compassionate justice system for the people of Davao City.
