UM CCJE shines at 6th National Criminology Congress
Attendees from the university's College of Criminal Justice Education to the 6th National Criminology Congress at De La Salle University bested others from across the country to emerge as champion in the Research Paper Presentation and Extemporaneous Speech competitions.
Lyen Carel Garcia took home the championship for Research Paper Presentation, as well as cinching first runner up for the Research Poster Presentation. Meanwhile, Nazra Realino took home the championship for Extemporaneous Speech, while Jenny Bangcaya was dubbed as Ms. Correction Administration.
There was a total of 12 events during the two-day gathering, and a special award for the country's Outstanding Criminology Students.
Garcia also participated in the regional leg of the congress in Tagum last Sept. 6, wherein she won as champion in the poster-making contest, while fellow participants Jean Balaba was champion in the Essay writing event, Vrent Ira Heinrich Valdesco was champion in the Oration competition, and the pair of Kate Briones and Gino Mabido as third runner up in the Firearms Assembly and Disassembling event.
The National Criminology Congress is a gathering of students of universities across the country offering a Criminology program and it is sponsored by the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines. This year's event operated around the theme "Shaping the Philippine Criminology Profession, Our Mission, Our Obligation" and had 40 universities participating.
