UM-RIC Conducts Research Retooling Session for UM Peñaplata College Personnel
Strengthening its commitment to research excellence and institutional productivity, the University of Mindanao–Research and Innovation Center (UM-RIC) conducted a one-day research retooling session entitled “Re-equipping and Re-committing to Institutional Research: A Research Writeshop” for the teaching and non-teaching personnel of on May 20, 2026. This is in collaboration with the institution's Research and Innovation Center in coordination with the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO).
The activity aimed to revitalize the research engagement of college personnel by enhancing their competencies in developing institutional research outputs aligned with the university’s research agenda and quality assurance initiatives.
The writeshop focused on guiding participants toward the completion and submission of key research deliverables. Expected outputs discussed during the session included the submission of title proposals, continuation of outline proposal submissions, finalization of research reports, and the final routing phase of defended papers.
Present during the activity were the directors from the UM Research Institute Center led by, Assistant Vice President for Business and Social Science Studies- Dr. Joel B. Tan, together with, Supervising Research Director of UM Penaplata College- Dr. Charlyn T. Gorgonio.
The session highlighted the institution’s continued commitment to fostering a strong research culture among its academic and administrative personnel through collaborative mentoring, technical guidance, and research capability-building initiatives.
Through activities such as this, UM-RIC continues to empower researchers and institutional stakeholders in producing relevant, responsive, and impactful research contributions for the university and the wider community.
