RIC, CHE in Talks with DOT XI for Future Research Collaboration
The University of Mindanao (UM), through its Research and Innovation Center (RIC) and the College of Hospitality Education (CHE), is moving forward with its planned research collaboration with the Department of Tourism Region XI (DOT XI). A meeting held at the DOT XI Field Office marked an important step in aligning the university’s academic expertise with the department’s goals for sustainable tourism and hospitality development in the region.
UM was represented by Dr. Joel B. Tan, Assistant Vice President for Business and Social Science Studies (AVP–BSS), Dr. Dindo Silud, Dean of the College of Hospitality Education, and Dr. Hazel Princess Rebollo, Research Coordinator of CHE. They were warmly received by Ms. Judy L. Colaljo, DOT XI Assistant Regional Director, who expressed the department’s strong support for the upcoming research initiatives.
The planned collaboration is envisioned to generate innovative and data-driven studies that will contribute to tourism growth, cultural preservation, and evidence-based policy development. Both UM and DOT XI emphasized their commitment to transform this partnership into a platform for knowledge-sharing, capacity building, and impactful community engagement—anchored on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
