US Embassy Explores Role and Mandate of the University of Mindanao - Institute of Popular Opinion as Davao`s Pioneer in Public Opinion
As part of its ongoing #EmbassyConnects initiative under the Public Diplomacy Section, the Embassy held a courtesy meeting with the University of Mindanao–Institute of Popular Opinion (UM-IPO) on February 26. The delegation was led by Embassy Spokesperson Jameson DeBose, who sought to better understand the institute’s mandate, its survey methodologies, and the range of research services it provides as a popular opinion watchdog in the Davao Region.
Welcoming the embassy representatives were Dr. Maria Linda Arquiza, Executive Director of the Institute of Popular Opinion, and Dr. Joel Tan, IPO specialist. During the discussion, UM-IPO officials presented an overview of the surveys the institute has conducted, the public and stakeholder feedback generated by these studies, and their broader implications for regional discourse. The meeting also explored the institute’s engagement with media partners and identified potential areas of collaboration in advancing data-driven public communication and informed civic participation.
