UM-CHE and CAHFTHE-DR/CHED XI Co-Host Regional OBE Syllabus Benchmarking Seminar for Tourism and Hospitality Educators



The Council of Academic Heads for Tourism and Hospitality Education – Davao Region (CAHFTHE-DR), in collaboration with CHED Region XI and the University of Mindanao-CHE, successfully conducted the OBE Syllabus Benchmarking Seminar and Workshop on March 10, 2026, at Cagliari Hall, UM Matina Campus, Davao City. The all-day event brought together academic leaders and faculty members from various tourism and hospitality institutions across Region XI.


Anchored on the theme “Aligning Learning Outcomes with Industry Realities: Reframing Outcomes-Based Education Syllabus for Tourism and Hospitality Education,” the seminar-workshop emphasized the need for responsive and industry-relevant curricula. The workshop-seminar was facilitated by Dr. Pedrito M. Castillo II, Vice President for IPAC, who guided participants in benchmarking and enhancing their OBE-aligned syllabi. The University of Mindanao also shared its best practices on OBEdized syllabus development and university software, providing a model framework for participants to strengthen their academic programs.


The initiative supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by promoting improved curriculum design, outcomes-based teaching, and continuous quality enhancement in higher education. It also advances SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among academic institutions, CAHFTHE-DR, CHED Region XI, and the University of Mindanao in strengthening tourism and hospitality education across the Davao Region.
