Research and Innovation Team Engages in 2026 DOST Call Conference to Advance Research Funding Initiatives of the University
The Research and Innovation Team actively participated in the 2026 DOST Call Conference in Butuan City today, February 24, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to advancing research excellence and expanding access to external funding opportunities. The conference, organized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), served as a vital platform for presenting priority research agenda, funding mechanisms, and collaborative initiatives aligned with national development goals. Through plenary sessions and program briefings, the team gained valuable insights into proposal preparation, eligibility requirements, and strategic alignment with DOST’s research thrusts for this current call.
The delegation was led by Dr. Maria Linda Arquiza, Vice President for Research and Innovation, and included key academic and research leaders: Dr. Joel B. Tan, Assistant Vice President for Business and Social Science Studies; Dr. Charlyn T. Gorgonio, Director of the Institute of Biodiversity and Environment; Dr. Khino J. Parohinog, OIC-Director of the Institute of Emerging Technologies; Mr. Conrado Jr. B. Panerio, Director of the Institute of Social Welfare and Human Development; and Ms. Shaina Lou Palar, a DOST-SEI CIP Fellow representing the UM Biomolecular Engineering Laboratory (UMBEL).
By engaging in discussions and networking activities, the team explored intensified outsourcing of research funds and strengthened linkages with potential funding partners and collaborators. Their participation highlights a proactive strategy to secure sustainable research grants, foster innovation-driven projects, and enhance the institution’s contribution to scientific advancement and community development.
On 3rd and 4th of March, the team is expected to re-echo their learnings during the call conference to UM Project Leaders during the LEAD 4.0 in preparation for the current call proposal
