Project Monitoring Successfully Conducted for DOST-GIA CRADLE Project



The DOST-GIA funded project entitled "Development of Electrodialysis with Bipolar Membrane for the Simultaneous Recovery of Cobalt and Lithium from Waste Secondary Batteris"has successfully undergone its post-monitoring activity on 29 January 2026 at the University of Mindanao – Matina Campus.

The project is implemented under the CRADLE Program of the Department of Science and Technology and is led by Dr. Chosel P. Lawagon, supported by Engr. Karlo Isagani Mosqueda and Mr. Mark Angelou Siega, MSc as the research assistants.

The monitoring was conducted by Engr. Elyonissi Jhe Moralla, Project Manager for the Mining and Minerals Sector, who assessed the project’s technical accomplishments and overall implementation. The project was officially completed on 15 December 2025, with a Final Technical Panel Presentation successfully conducted during the same period.

Following the monitoring, a pre-engagement meeting was also held with UM researchers and interested proponents to discuss the 2026 DOST Call for Proposals, focusing on: - Mining and Minerals Priority Research Areas - Proposal timelines and requirements - Key considerations in preparing work plans and LIBs - Orientation on the DOST 7Ps Framework. This activity strengthened collaboration between DOST and the University of Mindanao while promoting future research initiatives aligned with national priorities.
