UM student among top winners in business development contest
UMian Mark Anthony Garvida along with teammates from UP Diliman and De La Salle University cinched the third spot in the Group Final Big Idea Case Study of the Markprof Foundation (MPF) with their ‘Add On! Fun On!’ study, a business proposal that aimed to create more revenue for Cebu Pacific.
The winners of the business development competition were awarded last Saturday, Dec. 1 in Manila.
Garvida is a fourth year student under the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program, and is among the Top 23 ‘marketing leaders’ who bested nearly 1, 000 applicants across the country to finish the MPF Bootcamp; a series of educational talks and training with top companies in the Philippines over a period of seven Saturdays and learning their best practices to start up, expand, and maintain a business.
The student participants were able to meet with top representatives from companies like Mynt, Google, L’oreal, Unilever, McDonald’s, Nestle, and Globe.
According to their website, MPF is an organization that believes in investing in young leaders through providing the necessary skills training, firsthand insight, and best practices exposure especially from the Sales and Marketing industry.
“By doing this, we facilitate the passing down knowledge from one generation of mavericks to another, constantly raising the bar for the marketing profession in the country,” it stated on their website.
