About the Program
The field of Criminology centers on analyzing crime and the role of various justice agencies in addressing crime, criminals, and victims. The Criminology Program is committed to producing professionally competent and morally upright graduates. These individuals are equipped to provide efficient and effective services in areas such as crime prevention, crime detection and investigation, law enforcement, custody, and rehabilitation of offenders, among other crucial aspects of the justice system.
Program Educational Objectives
Three to five years after graduation, the graduates are expected to:
- Demonstrate competence in research and inquiry on the nature, causes, treatment or punishment of criminal behavior and how criminal justice agencies function and respond to crime, criminals and victims.
- Practice knowledge and skills in crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection, correctional administration, public safety, and allied fields
- Manifest the values of leadership, integrity, accountability, and responsibility while serving their fellowmen, community and country.
Student Outcomes
By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall have the ability to:
- Conduct criminological research on crimes, crime causation, victims, and offenders to include deviant behavior.
- Internalize the concept of human rights and victim welfare
- Demonstrate competence and broad understanding in law enforcement administration, public safety and criminal justice
- Utilize criminalistics or forensic science in the investigation and detection of crime
- Apply the principles and jurisprudence of criminal law, evidence, and criminal procedure
- Ensure offender’s welfare and development for their reintegration to the community
