UMians dominate September 2019 licensure exam for teachers
The University of Mindanao has cause for celebration once again as its graduates dominate the September 2019 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) numbering at an unbelievable 23 topnotchers.
For the Elementary Level, the following are the six topnotchers with their placement and respective scores: Rona Dawn Rafols from UM Tagum as Top 3 with 91.40%, Shiera Maravilla from UM Digos as Top 5 with 90.80%, Jay-Ar Lagahit from UM Peñaplata and Maureen Roslinda from UM Digos sharing the 8th spot with 90.20, and Eljun Curan from the main campus and Irish Lim sharing the 10th spot with a score of 89.90%.
For the Secondary Level, the following are the topnotchers with their respective placements and scores: Jasmin Cabatingan and Gene Satinitigan share the second spot with their scores of 92.60%, Queenie Damalerio and El Philip Fred Magbanua at the fourth spot with 91.80%, Aljie Marie Canoy from UM Tagum, Richejoy Combinido, Ronnel Galvano, Chris Llido from UM Digos, and Jemimah Mae Tabay all at the sixth spot with 91.40%, Cherry Ann Gordon from UM Tagum at seventh with 91.20%; Glenn Alumbro, Anne Marie Salapayne, and Dejie Mae Saumat sharing the eighth spot with 91.00%, Princess Grace Calvo from UM Digos at the ninth spot with 90.80%, and Bryan Añober, Gracelle Bullanday, and Alberto Sarte Jr from UM Digos sharing the tenth spot with a score 90.60%.
UM has had similar feats with past LET topnotchers, with the city council commending the students and the university for bringing prestige to Davao city. It is also worth noting that apart from UM, the majority of topnotchers in the LET for both Elementary and Secondary Levels come from schools in Mindanao.
Results were released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Sunday night, Dec.1 2019, and their exemplary performances enabled the university to garner a 90.41% passing rate for first time takers of the Elementary Level LET compared to the 52.81% national passing rate, and a 82.80% passing rate versus the 58.25 national passing rate for first time takers of the LET Secondary Level.
The PRC recorded 28,973 elementary teachers out of 92,440 examinees successfully passed the exam, while 54,179 out of 136,523 examinees passed the secondary level. Exams were administered last September 29, 2019 in 29 testing centers all over the Philippines, Hong Kong and Thailand.
