University of Mindanao inks MOU with Maseno University in Kenya
The University of Mindanao expands its corridors to education in the international community once more as it enters into a partnership with Maseno University (MU) based in Kenya, Africa.
Meeting at Daugavpils University in Latvia last July for the ERASMUS+2019, representatives from the University of Mindanao and MU Vice Chancellor Professor Julius Omandi Nyabundi saw it fit to enter into partnerships that were mutually beneficial in that faculty and staff exchanges, knowledge and resources, joint research and conferences, as well as benchmarking and the sharing of best practices from both universities could be exchanged.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding already signed between UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr and MU Vice Chancellor Nyabundi, the two universities will explore, design, and implement faculty and staff exchanges, long-term or short-term student exchange, joint international conferences, joint international research and publication, joint curriculum development, the sharing of experiences in mutual recognition agreements as well as quality assurance checks; among many other possibilities it may deem pertinent in the future.
It added that the UM-MU partnership will focus on Education, Health and Natural Sciences, Language Discipline, the Institute of Languages, and the Graduate Schools.
The signing of the MOU was witnessed by UM Chief Academic Officer Dr. Eugenio S. Guhao Jr, and MU Dean for the School of Education Professor Maureen Olele.
Maseno University is a public institution located in Kisumu, Kenya founded in 1991 and has four campuses, a college, and a constituent college; offering various undergraduate and post graduate courses and aiding in the growing demand for university education in their region.
