UMian wows at second Asia World Model United Nations 2019
A UMian bagged one of the four major awards given to participating hopefuls at the Asia World Model United Nations II (AWMUN II), a youth capacity development gathering organized by the International Global Network (IGN).
Johnruf Niño Nuñala earned the Verbal Commendation award, one of four awards given at the event held in Bangkok, Thailand with the other three being the Best Delegate, Honorable Mention, and Best in Position Paper awards.
Nuñala, who is currently taking up his Bachelor of Science in Education Major in Social Studies, was one of the more than a thousand youth delegates coming from all over the globe to learn from top speakers in the field of leadership development, leadership negotiation, diplomacy, and network development, all under the Model United Nations.
His topic concerned the migration policies of Montenegro, and discussed about the European nation’s current issue regarding migration and its possible action towards climate migrants.
Participants to the event are expected to think critically on various social issues, and improve their skills in communicating with international delegates and an executive board from a diverse academic background.
AWMUN II was held last January 30 to February 2, 2019 and is organized by IGN, an Indonesia-based foundation that focuses on the promotion of youth capacity development. (photo courtesy of Mr. Nuñala)
