UM has more than 37 percent share in the total enrolment of the Region. Its graduates are the most sought after by the industries, with 3 out of 7 executives and managers in Davao City are UMians. Through the years, it has produced the most number of topnotchers in various licensure examinations of the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC). Its students and faculty have reaped numerous accolades and awards in different competitions and award giving bodies. UM has the most number of programs with Center of Excellence and Center of Development by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the Region.
The University recognizes, however, that it must continue to build and publicize its achievements in the community so that its value to society be fully appreciated.
The Department of Labor and Employment bested the UM-PESO the Hall of Fame award for being the Most Outstanding PESO in the region for 5 years. UM also was the region's first recipient of the Phil-Jobnet Champion award. Also, UM bagged the 2010 Best National PESO Award during the 10th National PESO Congress held in Tagaytay City. This is the 2nd time that UM has received the award from DOLE.
