UM Chorale wows in first Tokyo International Choir Competition

The University of Mindanao made its mark in the first Tokyo International Choir Competition after bagging gold in the Chamber and Mixed Choir categories, and placing as a finalist in the Grand Prix last July 28- 29 in Harumi, Tokyo.

Held at the Dai-ichi seimei Hall, considered as one of the best music halls in Tokyo, the UM Chorale bested 59 other choirs from all over the world who made it through as finalists in the competition out of 137 teams from all over the world who tried their hand at entering the choral competition.

The UM Chorale represented the Philippines along with Miriam College Middle School Chorus and the Don Bosco Makati- Boscorale teams; albeit in varying categories.

Winning teams in each category will get ¥50, 000.

There are eight categories teams can choose to compete in: Children’s Choir, Senior Choir, Youth Choir, Chamber Choir, Equal Voice Choir, Mixed Choir, Contemporary Choir, and Folklore Choir.
