UM bags PMAP 2018 Employer of the Year Award for Mindanao

The University of Mindanao bagged the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Employer of the Year 2018 for Mindanao, a recognition of the quality managerial practices utilized by one of Mindanao’s premier universities.

Held in Cagayan de Oro, the awarding ceremony was attended by UM Chief Operating Officer Gloria E. Detoya, as UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr. is representing the school at a series of conferences in Europe.

The PMAP win means that the university will go on to the nationals where PMAP will determine the country’s top employer of the year.

Institutionalized in 1977, the PMAP Awards recognizes the outstanding organizations and individuals in the public and private sectors who help in advancing the best personnel and business management practices.

According to the PMAP website, there are three categories industries can be nominated in: Employer of the Year, People Manager of the Year, and the People Program of the Year.

Dr. Torres Jr. was also recently awarded the Education Leadership Award for his efforts in bringing about major changes to education in Mindanao.
