New flowering plant species to be named after CM Sara at UM Biodiversity Forum

The University of Mindanao through its Research and Development Office will hold a Biodiversity Forum on March 1, 2018, where new discoveries and discussions on the current state of biodiversity in the city and Mindanao will be presented.

Among the interesting topics for discussion are the findings of the Davao City Biodiversity Research and Conservation Team (DC-BRCT) on the state of biodiversity at the UM grounds, and the various new species of flora and fauna discovered in Davao city.

There will also be a presentation on the Coleoptera (beetle) species in Mindanao; whose presence in various ecosystem is an important indicator of ecological health.

The forum is also very special as the DC-BRCT will reveal a newly discovered species of flowering plant to be named after City Mayor Sara Duterte- Carpio.
