UM gears up for UMFF 2018

One of the University of Mindanao’s most awaited student events is gearing up to showcase the prowess of students in videography, cinematography, and acting as UM Film Festival set the final submission date on Feb. 15.

Dubbed “Sinugdanan” (Beginnings); the storylines chosen will revolve around the theme of beginnings, and as filmmaking is also a form of storytelling, each film will be a unique interpretation of the theme by the creator.

The chosen filmmakers and their stories were also treated to a special lesson from award-winning local filmmaker Bagane Fiola of Origane Films on Monday, Jan. 29.

His 2016 film Baboy Halas: Wailings in the Forest won the Special Newcomer Award at the 66th International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg in Germany.
