UMians shine in APSCUR events

Contestants from the University of Mindanao showed their skills and talents in the recent cluster elimination of the APSCUR (Association of Private and State Colleges and Universities in Region XI) Culture and Arts Competition last Jan. 17 and 18.

With the theme “One Vision, One APSCUR: Revitalizing Culture and Arts towards Holistic Formation,” the competition had two parts: academic and cultural.

Academic events featured contests like story telling, spoken poetry performances, poster making competition and the like, while cultural events  featured song and dance contests.

The following are the winners in the academic events held on Jan. 17 at Jose Maria College:

Junel Garsuta, second place for Spoken Poetry contest, Feve Marey Jison; second place for Story Telling event,  and the pair of Melchor Cabangbang Jr and Nisshi Raijenn Jeuz Sumangil; who won second place for the Poster Making contest.

​Winners of the cultural events at the Philippine Women’s Colllege of Davao on Jan. 18 meanwhile are:

Suthela Lou Suan, who won first place for the Vocal Solo competition and second place in the Vocal Duet competition,  and the team composed of Keith Forrest H. Andil, Ken Cyzar T. Tongco, John Mari G. Jocson, Christian Ymanuel M. Calangi, Johnssen Lionel M. Solano, Al-Razed B. Sanawe, Miguel Van Angelo T. Sinajon, and Joseph Jude F. Barroquillo; who won first place for the Popular Dance competition.

A highlight of APSCUR is the Ginoo at Binibining Pamantasan, and Umians delivered; reaping awards at the event: Darlene Paula Dichoso was crowned Binibining Pamantasan 2018, while  Joshua Joseph R. Locsin won as second runner for Ginoong Pamantasan, as well as Best in Talent, Mr. Congeniality, Best in Denim Attire, and Best in Barong Tagalog.
