City council commends University of Mindanao

The University of Mindanao and its roster of topnotchers were recognized by the local council last Tuesday for its accomplishments in the recent Licensure Examination for Teachers.In an article by Mindanao Times newspaper, the resolution commending UM for producing six topnotchers in the March 2017 LET was passed by Councilor Pilar Braga, chairperson for the committee on education, science and technology, and arts and culture.

UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr. and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Pedro B. San Jose were present at the city council commendation, along with the topnotchers: Marian Kaye Gallego (the first placer), Gerlie Albia (fifth placer), Rosa Mae Salazar and Chrestine Torrejos (sixth placers),Leslae Kay Mantilla (seventh placer), Kristine Clarrisse Planas (eighth placer), and Mark John Pepito (ninth placer).

According to the Professional Regulation Commission, 5,600 elementary teachers out of 53,915 examinees (10.39%) and 18,482 secondary teachers out of 72,584 examinees (25.46%) successfully passed the March 2017 LET.
